It was a scent that had become his entire world. Rea Sanka sat at the edge of his bed, her pale, porcelain skin glowing faintly in the dim moonlight filtering through the window. She was brushing her hair, the rhythmic shhh-shhh sound filling the silence between them. To anyone else, she was a beautiful, serene girl. "It's just fatigue, Rea," Chihiro lied. He hated lying to her, but the truth was too heavy. "You've been active a lot lately." It was a scent that had become his entire world

"Chihiro-kun?" Rea turned, her red eyes locking onto his. There was no warmth in those eyes anymore, physically speaking—they were the eyes of a corpse. Yet, the emotion pouring out of them was intensely alive. "You’re staring again. Is something wrong with my face?" To anyone else, she was a beautiful, serene girl

She stood up and walked to the window, looking out toward the distant cliffs from which she had once fallen to her death.

Outside, the wind rustled through the hydrangea bushes. For tonight, they were safe. For tonight, she was still his Rea.

He took her cold hands in his and squeezed them. "I promise, Rea. I won't let you lose yourself. We'll find a way. Together."
