Fred was busy waxing the Mystery Machine, Daphne was perfecting her latest outfit, and Velma was deep into a book, occasionally sighing at the lack of a good puzzle. Meanwhile, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo were exactly where they wanted to be—safe in the kitchen, surrounded by a mountain of "Halloween snacks" that would make a buffet look like a light appetizer.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!" Scooby howled, happily munching on a giant chocolate bar as the Mystery Machine drove off into the moonlit night. Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!

With Coco in tow, the investigation led them to a local carnival that had been taken over by these mechanical ghouls. Shaggy and Scooby were tasked with the most dangerous job of all: acting as bait.
The "Misery Company," as they would later be called, began to swarm the Mystery Machine. Before Fred could stop them, the ghosts unleashed a blast of energy that sent the van’s engine into a sputtering halt. "My van!" Fred cried. "It’s personal now." "Scooby-Dooby-Doo
"Zoinks! Did you hear that?" Shaggy shivered, his sandwich trembling in his hands.
